Controlled Delivery of Celecoxib—β-Cyclodextrin Complexes from the Nanostructured Titanium Dioxide Layers

Considering the potential of nanostructured titanium dioxide layers as drug delivery systems, it is advisable to indicate possibility creating a functional system based on anodic TiO2 for celecoxib an alternative anti-inflammatory and its inclusion complex with β-cyclodextrin. First, optimal composition celecoxib—β-cyclodextrin complexes was synthesized determined. The effectiveness complexation quantified using isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), differential scanning (DSC), infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), electron microscopy (SEM). Then, (TiO2) were electrochemical oxidation technique. pore diameters 60 nm layer thickness 1.60 µm used systems. samples modified pure β-cyclodextrin-celecoxib complex. release profiles shown effective from such during 24 h. After initial burst release, continuously released pores. presented results confirm that use can be effectively in more complicated systems composed β-cyclodextrin—celecoxib complexes, making drugs available pain treatment, e.g., orthopedic surgeries.
